Governor receives Queen’s Award of CMG

Bank of Papua New Guinea Governor Mr Loi M Bakani officially received the award of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George (CMG) in a investiture ceremony conducted by the Acting Governor General, HE Theodore Zurenouc, held on the 5th of November 2015 at the Government House, Port Moresby.

Mr Bakani was given the award for his services to Banking services in the country.

Governor Bakani said he was honoured that the Government recognized his services to the Banking services sector, and was happy to be part of the many hard working citizens involved in developing our country. He said that the Government has to continue to recognize individuals who have contributed to the country’s development in many different ways, and believes there are many out there who deserves such awards.

He added that working at the Central Bank was his first job when he graduated from the University of Papua New Guinea and has since been employed with the Bank for thirty years. He attributed his award to the Board, management and staff and encouraged staff to continue to be committed and work hard in serving our people and developing our country.
