BPNG Releases 2024 Annual Report. Confirms Dividend Payment.
Port Moresby, Monday 30 June 2025
The Bank of Papua New Guinea (BPNG) has submitted its 2024 Annual Report and Financial Statements to the Minister for Treasury, in line with its obligations under the Central Banking Act 2000 (as amended). The Report outlines the Bank’s operational performance, policy activities, and audited financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2024.
As part of its reporting process, the Bank has confirmed a dividend payment of K48.5 million to the National Government. This transfer reflects the allocation of distributable profit from the net operating profit of PGK 242.2 million in accordance with statutory requirements, following independent audit and review. The process is consistent with international central banking and accounting standards, and forms part of the Bank’s annual financial cycle.
Governor Elizabeth Genia said the timely submission of the Annual Report and associated financial disclosures was a key aspect of the Bank’s commitment to improved institutional transparency and public accountability.
“Publishing our Annual Report is more than a legal obligation. It’s an important mechanism for communicating the work of the Bank and being accountable to the people of Papua New Guinea,” she said. “The 2024 Report reflects a year of reform and transition, and outlines how we are working to support economic and financial stability in a complex environment.”
