Public Notice on Email Scam

The Bank of PNG (BPNG) is warning the public about an Email Scam in circulation, which claims to come from the Governor of BPNG, requesting recipients to pay fees up front in order for some unknown cash transaction to be cleared. The recipient of such Email is promised to benefit from the suspected cleared funds. The emails are usually followed by request to pay more fees to meet certain costs and to speed up the clearing process at BPNG.

The public is warned that these Emails are SCAMS and act of Fraud.

THE PUBLIC IS WARNED NOT TO OPEN SUCH EMAILS AND ANY LINKS IN IT, AND NOT TO RESPOND TO THEM. MOST IMPORTANTLY, DO NOT MAKE ANY PAYMENT OR DISCLOSE DETAILS OF YOUR BANK ACCOUNT AND PERSONAL CONTACT AND ADDRESS.

If you receive any Emails and in particular the ones that mention the Governor of Bank of PNG, Central Bank of PNG, Bank of Papua New Guinea and BPNG, or even looks unusual and suspicious, you are advised to contact the BPNG ICT Service Desk immediately on Telephone: 3227408 or via the email [email protected].
