To mark the occasion of the 9th South Pacific Games in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, the Bank of Papua New Guinea released this special commemorative Fifty toea coin.

The Games brought great enjoyment to the people of Papua New Guinea, and also brought together countries from the region to participate in a very special sporting festival. This coin served as a memento of this important event in our history.

Foundation for the Logo

A National Arts School Student, Miria Miria won the logo design competition and based his design on the Bird of Paradise linking with the 9th South Pacific Games.
